Drone parachute launcher

A parachute recovery system that uses a small high-pressure gas cartridge to push out the parachute pack. The pressure can be tuned to the payload and ejection requirements.

  3. 03Launch tube and relief plug
  4. 04CO₂ cartridge, release block and trigger servo
Application scenario
Drone parachute launcher:Application scenario

A 16 g CO₂ cartridge stands beside the tube. When triggered, a striker pierces the cartridge and gas flows through the release block to drive a piston, ejecting the parachute pack and lid; the pilot chute then pulls out the main canopy. A relief plug in the base vents pressure if the pack jams.

The trigger servo is driven by the flight controller, and the safety pin must be pulled before flight to arm it. The current design targets 4–6 kg multirotors; tube diameter, pack volume and mounting interface can be scaled to the aircraft.
